Multigenerational living

Keeping those who matter close, without giving up a place of your own. At Le Clos Françoise, two households live side by side — each with its own space, its own rhythm, its own privacy.

Close together, each in their own home

The idea — known in Belgium as habitat kangourou, after the kangaroo that keeps its young close — is a simple one: bringing two households together under one roof, often a family and a relative. A parent growing older, a young adult finding their feet, a child moving back. The two homes come together when they feel like it, lend a hand when needed, and each keeps its own door, its own quiet, its own life.

At Le Clos Françoise, the place lends itself to it naturally: a large house and an independent annexe, adjoining one another, yet each with its own entrance, kitchen and bathroom. Close by, without ever being on top of one another.

Two homes, one address

The family's life on one side, a relative's on the other — two homes that sit side by side without getting in each other's way, under the same roof.

Why we're telling you this

Keeping a parent or a grown child close without living on top of one another is precious, and not always easy. The house and its annexe make it natural — close enough to be there, separate enough that each keeps their own home. That's the way of living that moves us.
